REVEREND CRUSHA AND DAPHNE`S FINDINGS

At this time, before Robert’s phone call, Daphne had sent me the following “Morter Line”, filled in by her for Reverend Crusha.  You can see from Daphne’s Family Tree, in her own handwriting, that we go right back to a “Philip Morter of Long Stratton died 1722”.

You can see the Tree is entitled “Descendants of Wells Morter”      (Son of John & Elizabeth) by Reverend Crusha.  My sister Georgina and late brother Colin, and in particular my cousin Ron (son of Frederick), agreed with a lot of the data, going back to Wells; in particular the interesting Jewish connection of “ Meshach”!

So, at this stage on the 11th June`03, Daphne sent me this.  A few weeks later, after Robert contacted me, he talked about his “64 page Dossier” and subsequent “ Huge Family Tree”, showing his line going back, even further to a Thomas Morter Bur. 1636 at North Walsham.   A meeting had to be arranged to compare the two Lines, hoping for real agreements!
The following Thursday around 6 00 pm was the appointed time, at Robert’s home in Wymondham not far from Long Stratton.  Robert also mentioned that according to his Dossier:
“Philip from Long Stratton married a Catherine Lincolne at Morningthorpe on 20/09/1698”.

I noticed on the map, Morningthorpe was only a stone’s throw away from Long Stratton, so I decided to visit both Churches in the morning; but more important, I had made an appointment with the Archives Records Department in Norwich, to check that their marriage actually took place!  I also thought it would be a good idea to take my Digital Camera (thanks Delphine!) with me, and make an Ancestry Video (thanks Pam!) of my day out.  I did manage to visit both churches that morning, and also St Mary’s in Hethersett, that late afternoon. Also in the Records Office, I found the actual proof of their marriage.  Here it is:
